Dear Broadhurst Neighbors,
Below are some reminders about upcoming events and news from our neighborhood.
1. Annual Picnic is Sunday August 27th 11am-2pm in the Broadhurst Park
WHAT: This is our yearly get together with the neighbors where we welcome all the new people who’ve moved in throughout the year and reconnect with each other. It’s an event not to be missed and fun for the whole family. It changes in theme and entertainment each year, and this year’s theme is a carnival!
There will be a raffle (where you get the tickets for free), smoked bbq prepared by John, and a mixture of carnival games.
It’s free for all of our residents who live in the neighborhood. If you’d like to bring additional family members who may be visiting from out of town, it’s $20 per person.
WANNA HELP?: Sometimes people ask what they can do to help out. If you’d like to help, there’s a sign-up genius link below. The social committee is made up of about 6 people, and they organize a bunch of things for this event, but since the social committee is smaller than usual this year, they do need the help to set up, provide all of the equipment like corn hole sets, etc.

TO BRING: Non-alcoholic drinks and food are provided by the HOA, but if you’d like any adult beverages, you need to bring those on your own. Feel free to bring lawn chairs too.
2. Food trucks
Thank you so much to Carol LaMoria for organizing these for our neighborhood. There have been about three so far this summer, and the upcoming ones are below. The trucks park in front of the Broadhurst Park and anyone from our neighborhood or the surrounding area can come. This is not paid for or subsidized by the HOA, so you need to bring money.
August 2nd – Cascadia Pizza (4-7:30) www.cascadiapizzaco.com/
August 15th – Anthony’s Finn the Food Truck (4-7:30) www.anthonys.com/finn-the-food-truck/
3. Communication and Facebook Pages
We have two for our neighborhood. The “Broadhurst Neighborhood” is invite-only, set to private because we had so many bots and scammers trying to get in. If you live in the neighborhood and realize you’re not on it, please email Ryfka Schafer ramkraut@gmail.com to get on.
The other Facebook page we have is “Broadhurst Community Marketplace”. This is the spot where people post things for sale. It’s set to be a private group in settings, so if you’d like to get on it, just email Ryfka.
There’s also a website for Broadhurst. It has a public component and a private one, just for us. The site is: www.broadhursthome.org If you haven’t received an access code to get into it, please email the Broadhurst HOA at broadhurst.board@gmail.com
4. Summer License Plate Game
Thank you to Connie Boyer for thinking this up for our kids! The license plate game is where kids try to see all state license plates on their travels between Memorial Day through Labor Day. They check off their findings on the map sent in a previous Broadhurst email (sent 5/28/23). The link to the map is Map. Turn in your map to Connie Boyer at cvboyer@att.net by September 6th. There will be a prize announced for the winner.
